Local Resources

Katz Cancer Resource Center

Katz Cancer Resource Center: A place to access information and services related to all aspects of cancer care, at no charge. Supportive certified oncology nurses (RNs) provide guidance in sorting through questions about cancer as well as assistance in coordinating care and referrals to support services like Dominican Home Health.

The Next Step: A boutique in Los Gatos, CA, for women who have experienced breast cancer and have had a lumpectomy or mastectomy. Products include specialty bras, swimsuits, lingerie, hair and skin products.

Palo Alto Medical Foundation – Cancer Care: A source for personalized care for patients and their families combined with high quality, compassionate, and coordinated cancer treatment.

Women’s Cancer Resource Center: This Oakland, CA, center has a superb library and computer-searching capabilities. Also includes local, state, and national links regarding women’s issues and health; and an extensive collection of links on women’s issues and health.

American Clinicians Academy on Medical Aid in Dying
ACAMAID: The Academy’s mission is to make clinical information about medical aid in dying available to all clinicians. The Academy provides an active Patient-to-Doctor Referral System, with an anonymous list of participating physicians.
Breastcancer.org: A nonprofit organization dedicated to providing reliable, complete, and up-to-date information about breast cancer.
Five Wishes: A living will to express how you want to be treated if you are seriously ill and unable to speak for yourself.
Latinas Contra Cancer: A center raising awareness about cancer in the Latino community, increasing access to quality care, working to decrease mortality, and improving the quality of the health care experience.
Mautner Project: Website of the National Lesbian Health Organization
The Mautner Project is committed to improving the health of women who partner with women including lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, through direct and support service, education and advocacy. “
National Cancer Institute: A comprehensive site, the National Cancer Institute coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.
Questions Are The Answer: Website of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality with information on how to take an active role in your health. Learn how to prepare questions for your medical appointments so you can understand your condition and evaluate your options. The site has suggestions for questions, an online tool for building a personalized list of questions, and other advice.
Skin Deep: An online, brand-by-brand, personal care product safety guide with in-depth information on 14,227 products, such as lotion, lip balm, deodorant, and sunscreen. A project of the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit research and advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C.
